CLIP is pleased to highlight a recent community initiative led by St Peter Port Parish in partnership with Guernsey Prison. Earlier October, the Parish Groundsmen created a set of new chairs made from recycled bench pieces, giving old timber a fresh purpose while supporting accessibility intown.

The chairs were designed with mobility in mind, each featuring an arm on both sides to help individuals sit and stand more easily. This practical design aims to make St Peter Port more welcoming and comfortable for those who may need a little extra support when out and about.

This project forms part of the Douzaine’s wider effort to increase public seating in town. The Guernsey Prison workshop played an important role in repurposing the materials, offering meaningful opportunities for skill-building and purposeful activity. CLIP is proud to support initiatives that bring together sustainability, creativity and community benefit.

We look forward to seeing more collaborative projects that enhance our shared spaces and help ensure St Peter Port remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
