On Saturday 28th June, Guernsey Prison opened its gates for a rare and special event — a guided Open Garden morning hosted in partnership with CLIP (Creative Learning in Prison).
Visitors were invited to tour the beautifully maintained prison gardens and greenhouses, hearing directly from staff and prisoners about the work that goes into growing and nurturing the space. From colorful wildflowers to rows of homegrown vegetables, the gardens are a living example of rehabilitation through learning, routine, and care.
The event offered a unique opportunity to step behind the scenes and gain insight into the positive programmes running within the prison environment. Guests enjoyed tea, coffee, and cake as part of the visit, with all proceeds going to support CLIP’s work in delivering additional education for prisoners’ rehabilitation.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped organise the day, and to those who attended and supported the cause.
We look forward to welcoming more visitors to future OpenGarden events.
